1. Who we are

Iris ("we", "us", or "our") is a learning tool that converts YouTube videos into structured Q&A cards. We are committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about how we use it.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information: Your email address, used to create and authenticate your account via a one-time code.
  • Usage data: YouTube video URLs you submit, the Q&A cards generated for you, cards you save or discard, and review session activity.
  • Device & log data: IP address, browser type, and timestamps — collected automatically when you use the service.
  • Payment data: Processed entirely by our payment provider (Stripe). We never store your card number or billing details.

3. How we use your information

  • To generate, store, and surface your Q&A cards and review schedule.
  • To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
  • To process payments and manage your subscription.
  • To improve the product — aggregated, anonymised usage patterns only.
  • To send you transactional emails (login codes, receipts). No marketing without consent.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with our service providers, who are bound by data-processing agreements.

5. Data retention

We retain your account and card data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time by emailing us. We will delete your data within 30 days of a verified request.

6. Cookies

We use only essential cookies — specifically, a session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Data portability (export your cards).

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@iris.app.

8. Children

Iris is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top and notify you by email if the changes are material.

Terms of Service

Last updated: April 18, 2026

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using Iris, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These Terms form a binding contract between you and Iris.

2. The service

Iris converts YouTube video transcripts into Q&A learning cards and resurfaces them using spaced repetition. We provide the service "as is" and may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

3. Your account

  • You must provide a valid email address and keep it up to date.
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use Iris.
  • One account per person. Do not share accounts.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Iris to process content you do not have the right to use.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy the service.
  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Abuse or attempt to circumvent usage limits or paywalls.
  • Impersonate any person or entity.

5. Subscriptions and billing

  • Free accounts are subject to usage limits as described on the pricing page.
  • Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually in advance.
  • You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by applicable law.
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice.

6. Intellectual property

Iris and its content (logo, design, software) are owned by us. You retain ownership of any content you export from the service. The Q&A cards generated from your submitted videos are yours to use for personal, non-commercial learning.

7. Third-party content

Iris processes publicly available YouTube transcripts. We are not affiliated with YouTube or the creators whose videos you submit. You are responsible for ensuring your use of third-party content complies with the relevant platform's terms of service and applicable copyright law.

8. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind — express or implied. We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of AI-generated Q&A cards. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the service.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Iris's total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $10 — whichever is greater.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may close your account at any time from account settings. Upon termination, your right to use the service ends immediately.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. We will notify you by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
